College and University

Many professors today forgo Shakespeare's plays in Appreciation of Literature courses or other survey courses. A play that the Lord Chamberlain's Men performed in 2 hours can consume several weeks of a course already straining under an ambitious reading list. Some students simply will not read the play, relying on much more accessible published crib sheets. And many students, of course, are non-native speakers still struggling with contemporary English.

The ENJOY SHAKESPEARE verse translations solve these problems by presenting Shakespeare'e dramas in all their complexity and richness yet in contemporary language. Students can read the play more quickly, contribute fully to class discussions, and offer their own critical judgments and insights rather than waiting for the professor to "explain it."

Richmond has performed a service for English-speaking
students everywhere.
