Books By and About Shakespeare
Verse, Meter and Rhythm (Shakespeare specific and general)
Wright's book is quite helpful in understanding how Shakespeare uses meter. Shapiro and Beum's classic The Prosody Handbook is back in print. It is a clearly written, accessible introduction. Attridge's book and the NCTE publication have practice exercises.
- Shakespeare's Metrical Art

- Accent on Meter: A Handbook for Readers of Poetry
(NCTE)
- Poetic Rhythm: An Introduction

If you want to write iambic pentameter, read the appendix "How Iambic Pentameter Works" in Kent Richmond's translations of Twelfth Night or Macbeth.
